這是一部典型的好萊塢青春校園影片，有豐富的畫面和絢爛的色彩，當然最最重要的就是主人公在90分鍾中傳奇的勵志過程。 從中我們也了解到了金發美人在美國社會的地位究竟是怎樣的一種狀況，不學無術，靠美貌吃飯是大多數人對她們的看法，但在影片中美麗聰慧的Elle打破了這個定勢，完成了一個從美貌白天鵝到智慧白天鵝的過程。
對於英語學習來說，我認為此片更是一部上好的教材，原因有二：第一，就語言本身來說。這是一部青春校園片，劇中人物的語言涉獵了課堂、餐廳、電話、演講、聚會等各個方面，對日常的口語表達很有幫助；第二，從內容上，Elle的奮發向上會激勵學習中的你，把枯燥的學習過程變得後勁十足。
首先來認識電影中的主要角色，這里提一點學習英語的小建議，在看完影片後不妨給你印象深刻的角色寫一個「人物小傳」，這是表演學習當中重要的一部份，但我認為它同樣適用於英語學習，根據你對人物的理解，寫一到兩話即可，既可以鍛煉自己對事物的歸納能力，同樣也可以輕松自然的練到寫作，可謂一舉兩得。

This is the story of Elle Woods, a very cute and friendly student who is also the most popular girl in her Los Angeles sorority (A house and club for female students). Elle has just finished her studies in Fashion, and is getting prepared to marry her boyfriend, Warner, who will soon be going to Harvard Law School, in Boston. Unfortunately, Warner decides to break up with Elle, because he wants to find a more serious looking girlfriend who will help his career in politics after he gets out of law school (Elle, unfortunately looks like the mb blonde)
故事的引子是從Elle的金發開始的，這似乎是很荒謬的一件事情，但是在英美文化當中，這種現象已經歷來已久了，判斷一個女孩的受教育程度或是家庭背景，往往是通過頭發顏色和說話聲音的位置，這在很多的影視作品中都有體現（夢露早期的作品都是擠著嗓子說話的）。還有Warner就讀的大學是Harvard Law School（哈佛法學院），熟悉美國政治的人都知道，競選議員是邁入仕途的第一步。從政的道路當中，伴侶的選擇至關重要，不光要有較好的教育背景，更重要的是聯姻的家族要門當戶對，就Warner所說的拋棄Elle為了找一個serious girl其實也只是一個借口罷了。

Elle為迎接期待已久的約會，拉著兩個死黨去置裝。在服裝店（Sun Plaza Boutique）里，壞心的店員認為Elle只是富家的揮霍女罷了，於是想拿過季的衣服充當新款……
Clerk：There』s noting I love more than a mb blond with daddy』s plastic.(to Elle)Did you see this one? We just got it in yesterday.
Elle：Oh，Is this low-viscosity rayon？
Clerk: yes, of course.
Elle: With a half-loop, top-stitching on the hem.
Clerk: Absolutely. It』s one of kind.
在這個簡短的對話中，需要引起我們注意的有：
It』s one of kind. 字面上是「在此類中的唯一一種」，意思是「獨一無二」，If something is 「one of a kind,」 it is truly unique, with no others like it.強調的是對於某事物「獨特」unique的感覺。關於這個短語，想起了上課期間一個同學問我可否用「I won』t lift a finger」,他理解該短語的意思是「愛不釋手」。其實不然，如「put a finger on sth.」的意思就是對某事理解，得門道，所以以此聯想一下就可以得出「I won』t lift a finger」是我不感興趣之意。
還應該注意的是Sun Plaza Boutique，這里的服裝店沒有用傳統的「商店」之類詞，而是用了「Boutique」，根據發音我們感覺他有一點法語的味道，沒錯，他來自於法語，原意是small shop,或者是A small shop located within a large department store or supermarket.（大商場中的「店中店」），但是在今天，boutique更多的與luxury(奢侈品)相聯系，而且特指高檔女裝店，每年的奧斯卡頒獎典禮上，眾多女星的禮服大多是在世界頂級品牌的Boutique中定製的。
